"I also figured out how to live on twenty-five dollars a week. Five dollars came off the top for the required five dress shirts, and I decided to eat on a dollar a day Monday through Friday , and allocate another dollar to weekend meals, so that I'd have fourteen dollars left to go out on Saturday night. In 1964, I could actually take a date to dinner for fourteen dollars, sometimes a movie too, though I had to let the girl order first to make sure our combined order plus a tip didn't go over the budget. "
I never done like this. Its even a bit weird to me to imagine sitting at a restaurant with a nice girl starring at her with wide opened eyes listening what she is going to order. And if she orders something more expensive, maybe a lobster, I will just turn to the waiter: " Ok I am not really hungry, a diet coke pls".:)))))))))))))
Actually my strategy is totally different. I am the "if I have I am a king, if I haven't I am a begger" type of guy. Always counting, calculating, managing like Clinton did just poisons the life in a way. When I was a student at the University and I used to live in a dormitory just like Clinton did, I also had this low-budget life. For the first semester when I didnt work yet I had only my scholarship (beggership) which was like 4000 Ft a month. If I calculate like Clinton I had around 130 Ft for each day. Having that money beside my other costs I could buy maybe one cheesburger every day but like this my life would have been on the same level always. Very disciplined, very organized lifestyle. But its not me.
I rather followed an other way. At the beginning of the month I used to live like a KING. Spending a lot, enjoying the life, inviting my friends, and having dates without those emberassing moments.:) But when my money was over I used to live like a BEGGER. It was the time of fasting like a good christian before Easter, I didnt go out (perfect time for diet and studying) and I was waiting for the next month so so much:)

Funny post, Zsolt.
Most everyone I know has lived the feast or famine lifestyle that you lived. It's wonderful to finally have an income that allows one to feast most every day of the year - and to have an appetite that enjoys some restraint too.
